"The term Sama-Bajau refers to several Austronesian ethnic groups of Maritime Southeast Asia.
Sometimes called "Sea Gypsies", for most of their history they have been a nomadic, seafaring people,
living off the sea by trading and subsistence fishing. They keep close to the shore by erecting stilt
houses, and travel using handmade boats which many even live in."

I had the chance to meet Sama-Bajau individuals in the Togian Islands archipelago, situated off the coast
of Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, roughly 13,000kms from home and it was a wonderful human experience.
My name is Yann Droy, I am a 25yo software engineer from France, and I want to share two of
my passions: traveling and photography.
I am not the same, having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world.
Although you might find a lot of software engineers in their bedroom playing video games or working
on personal projects, this is not how I chose to spend my free time. I more or less spend every vacation
day I have discovering new places and new cultures.
During my studies abroad in the United States of America in 2017, I realized how both traveling and living
in the moment were important to me. Since then, not only was my goal to explore more of what our World had
to offer but also to better capture every moment, in order to keep better memories later on.
My dad always told me photography was about memories, so I bought a camera and I started to shoot
my adventures and my everyday life.
I later broadened my creative interests by starting portrait photography, macrophotography,
wildlife photography, aerial photography, street photography or even astrophotography, earning new
skills and becoming more and more proficient in different fields.
Photography, to me, is catching a moment which is passing, and which is true.
Photography is unique to each photographer. I hereby invite you to my photography
by visiting my gallery. I hope you will enjoy it and I wish you a lovely day.
